Department of comparative politics
The main goals of the Department of Comparative Politics consist on achieving a better understanding of political phenomena through its description and explanation, as well as providing empirical studies that may lead to policy solutions relating to major social problems, which in turn may enrich public debate at both the national and supranational level. The team main objects of inquiry are institutions, the behavior of citizens, and process and content of public policies.
Specifically, the main research lines are European integration and comparative regional integration; The Reform of welfare states and social policies; Europeanisation and European social model; Political violence (civil wars, terrorism, state repression); Identitiy politics, federalism, and nationalism; Public Opinion, Political Participation and Democracy; Political Knowledge and Political Inequalities; Citizens' Attitudes toward the State and public policies and Trust and Social Capital.
